America April 2018

My big trip to America Started in style with Premium Gatwick tickets from #flynorwegian

After a 10 hour flight we landed in Oakland, on to San Francisco!

San Francisco

Got out of hotel early in the morning. San Francisco is 8 hours behind London time so it was easy. Had to cut our sightseeing short soon after because mother, yes mother left her bag with passports and money in the hotel reception. Oh, mother.

My advice:

Keep all of your belongings close to you.

San Francisco is lovely with lots of green trees everywhere, but difficult to get around easy with hills and steep roads...

Travelling in San Francisco can be on a cable car, hop-on-hop-off bus, go cart, driver-less Cruise car or...by ferry but to Alcatraz...

Alcatraz was famous as a tough prison and even though it has been shut for over 50 years it is still ...scary. ..check it out yourself.

I wrote an e-mail to the Park Rangers that providing some wheelchairs for slow walkers like me would help to enjoy the tour around the Rock...

great excursion to book before visiting SF

Monterey Bay

Next stop in our journey was Monterey Bay, pretty town and important in history of California...with first public library, first theater, first public building, first public school, first printing press and first newspaper.. also i think with the best pizza in the world so far made in @heirloompizzaco

Connery Row used to be the place known for canning sardines but now all of the factories are closed.. We visited 5 different banks and could not exchange our ££ for $$......why? mother thought it would be better to do exchange in the USA....oh, mother!

My advice:

always have enough cash and both debit and credit card for deposits if renting a car or booking a hotel room

Santa Barbara was a MUST stop for me, but mum wanted to drive through Santa Margarita...and do some washing in a coin-laundry.

#santabarbarapier is not longer than #brightonpier but you can drive on it...its crazy, but very comfortable to visit

Next stop HOLLYWOOD!

Santa Barbara

Los Angeles

No shopping at #rodeodrive for me! a little swim at a wonderful #hollywoodcityinn and some good bargains at #wss

Los Angeles was not what we expected and not very welcome to everyone. My mum cried when we drove through Downtown and saw so many homeless people
